Introduction
The Weather Radar App displays live radar directly on screen, helping teams stay informed about real-time weather conditions in their area. It’s ideal for industries like Energy, Manufacturing, Marine, and Public Safety, where weather visibility supports safety and operational awareness.
This app uses Windy, a leading weather visualization platform that professionals in aviation, marine environments, emergency response, and outdoor sports rely on. Windy delivers high-resolution radar and wind animations derived from global weather models.
Creating a Weather Radar app
Click on the Weather Radar app within your app gallery to add it, and fill in the app details as follows:
You must provide a name and an optional description for the application.
Use the Player's Location to auto-center the radar based on the screen’s physical location.
From the Language drop-down menu, select your preferred language. Translations are provided via the Windy API.
Select the Map Layer. You can choose between visual layers (e.g., Wind Animation, Rain Radar).
Adjust the Zoom Factor(%) to ensure the app fits nicely on your screen.
Select Temperature units (Celsius, Fahrenheit).
Choose the Length Unit between Metric and Imperial.
Choose the Wind Speed Unit between bft, km/h, mph, and more.
You can set the Timezone you want (optional).
Also, you can introduce an identifying Tag for this app to better manage it going forward.
Set the Default Duration so the app appears in a playlist.

Click Save, and your app is ready to use.

Why isn’t the radar displaying the correct area?
Ensure you turn on the "Use Player's Location" toggle. If the player does not have a valid location, you can manually change it.
Can I use this app to receive weather alerts?
No. The Weather Radar App provides live visualizations only, without alerting or notification features.
How often does the radar refresh?
The radar auto-refreshes based on Windy's update intervals. While exact intervals depend on data availability, visuals typically refresh every few minutes to stay current.
Is the radar being animated?
The Map Layer option's drop-down menu only shows the Wind Animation as an available animation.
