Overview

How to Assign Content to a Screen (Player)

Follow these four steps below to assign content to a single Screen (Player):

Step 1: Open the Screens' Page, Locate a Screen (Player), and Edit it

  1. Log in to your Yodeck account.

  2. Click the Screens option from the left menu.
You will see a list of all your Screens (Players).

  3. Locate the Screen (Player) you want to update.

  4. Click the Edit (pencil) icon, under the three dotted icon.

This last action opens the selected Screen's settings page.

Step 2: Select the Screen Content Type

Under the Screen Content drop-down menu, choose one of the following options:

  • Schedule: Automatically change content by time and day.

  • Layout: Display a layout of multiple regions simultaneously.

  • Playlist: Rotate content sequentially.

  • App: Display dynamic or integrated content.

  • Media: Display a single file.

Step 3: Save and Push to the Screen

✅Click Save & Push to this Screen.

ℹ️If you click Save only, you must click the orange Push to Screens button (top-right corner) to publish the changes. The Push to Screens button sends the configuration to the physical Screen (Player). Without pushing the changes, the Screen continues playing the previous content.

Assigning a Schedule to a Screen (Player)

If you select Schedule as Screen Content, the Screen (Player) follows time-based rules.

A Schedule can contain multiple rules. Each rule defines:

  • What content plays.

  • On which days.

  • At what times.

If the current time does not match any rule, the Screen returns to its default Screen Content.

Example Schedule logic:

Time

Content

08:00–12:00

Breakfast Playlist

12:00–18:00

Lunch Layout

18:00–22:00

Evening Promotion

⚙️You can assign a schedule to a screen by selecting the schedule from the respective list, clicking on the three-dotted button, and selecting the Set to Screen option.

💡The exact same aforementioned alternative logic of setting an element to a Screen applies to Layouts, Playlists, Media, and Apps.

F.A.Q.s

Got questions? We’ve got answers! This section addresses common questions about the content assignment to Screens.

What happens if I assign a Schedule and also change Screen Content?

The Schedule takes priority during its active time slots. Outside those time slots, the Screen displays the assigned Screen Content.

Can I preview what a Screen (Player) will display before pushing?

Yes. You can preview Playlists, Layouts, and Schedules individually before assigning them. However, the Screen (Player) will not update until you push.

If I duplicate a Screen (Player), does it keep the same assigned content?

What happens if I delete a Playlist that is assigned to a Screen?

The Screen will no longer have valid content assigned and may display an error or remain blank until new content is assigned and pushed.

Does changing the timezone affect scheduled playback?

Yes. Schedules follow the Screen’s (Player's) timezone settings. If the timezone is incorrect, content may play at unexpected times.

Can I assign different schedules to different Screens?

Yes. Each Screen (Player) can have its own Schedule, allowing full flexibility across locations.

How can I quickly confirm what content a Screen is currently assigned to?

Go to the Screens page and check the Screen Content column. You can also open the Screen’s Edit panel to confirm its assigned Playlist, Layout, or Schedule.
